FAQ’s
Q: How far in advance should we confirm with you? As soon as you set your date you should book your clergy/ officiant. It is amazing how often two or more people want the same date.
Q: Is there any pre-marital counseling required? No, but I would be glad to help you with that if you wish.
Q: Can we write our own vows? Yes! The vows you write are always the best ones whether you write part of them in a larger ceremony or all of them.
Q: Do you perform ceremonies for same sex couples? Yes!
Q: What is your fee? Typically $600, which includes everything. Click the following to see additional options: (Price Packages)
Q: What do you mean by everything? All that goes into making sure that you’re completely happy with your ceremony. Doing so may require creative design, multiple drafts for your review and approval, multiple phone calls/ emails, follow up etc.; we’ll go with whatever process is most comfortable and/ or convenient for you. I don’t charge for filing your marriage license. (I always send certified for tracking purposes) I don’t charge extra for local travel expenses. (Local is within a 55 mile area. More details in following questions)
Q: How far will you travel to marry us? As far as you wish, but mutually agreed traveling expenses may be added for weddings out of the area.
Q: What about rehearsals? If you would like me to attend, I’ll make every effort to be there. However, I often have weddings scheduled in and around the weekends, which may conflict with your rehearsal time. Fortunately, we’ve already created and gone over your ceremony together in detail. So, it’s usually not necessary for me to attend the rehearsal which is typically handled by the wedding coordinator at your venue. The rehearsal primarily focuses on logistics; how and where the bridal party enters, stands and exits. If I attend your rehearsal, depending on the distance, and/ or if you’d like me to lead the rehearsal, (usually the venue or your wedding planner lead) there may be an additional charge.
Q: How is booking handled? When you are certain you want me to officiate at your wedding you pay a non-refundable $250 to hold the date for you so I can turn down anyone else who may want it. The balance is due on or before the date of your wedding.
Q: Are you licensed in New York City? Yes, I am licensed by the City Clerk’s Office of NYC to perform weddings in all 5 boroughs. License # furnished upon request.
Q: How do we get started? First; We’ll agree on a convenient time to meet, (in person or zoom) which will allow us the opportunity of getting to know each other better. I’ll answer all of your questions and you’ll tell me more about your ceremonial vision and goals. I’ll give you a small sample (that you get to keep) of a much larger booklet that contains ceremony ideas & examples, vow and ring ideas, readings, poetry, blessings and many other ceremonial options available to you. It’s just meant to help you get started. Second; If you would like me to officiate your wedding, I’ll give you the entire booklet and then at any point you wish, we’ll start putting your ceremony together. Third; You can e-mail me back your selections, which I’ll use to create your personalized wedding ceremony. I’ll then provide you with as many drafts necessary to reach your final approval.
